As Brilliance-Based Businesswomen, how do you build and connect with your community?Â
Stefanie Frank -Â Initiative Based Writingâ„˘
This no joke serious topic has been a rough road for me. The more I let my real authentic voice and personality come into my content the easier this gets. This principle applies to YOU, no matter your industry, business or brilliance.
Hereâ€™s how Iâ€™m doing it:
- Weekly blogging about topics my Ideal Clients care about
- Daily Facebook conversations about writing, marketing, and triathlon training
- Being part of a Tele-summitÂ that requires me to be more visible
- Reaching out and meeting with business owners who are â€śbiggerâ€ť than I am, and who are building communities in ways that resonate with me 100%. The intention: form a personal connection, have them remember me, and kindle a long term supportive relationship
- I was recently named a FitFluential Ambassador! They have requirements for tweeting, blogging, Facebook and Pinterest. This will grow my community and put me in front of more Ideal Clients!
Iâ€™m on social media, email, and in my Google reader feed consistently with the goals of:
- Being my authentic self with full personality!
- Sharing valuable relevant content about writing and triathlon training
- Supporting my community with whatever they need that I can authentically, joyfully and easily provide

One of my favorite ways to build our EnergyRICHÂ® community is throughÂ Joint Venture Partnerships (JVs).Â Â JVs are a terrific way to expand your community and potential client base (and to bring in new clients and customers!) The energies of possibility and prosperity open up when we are able to partner supportively with others.Â Â
At EnergyRICHÂ® we often create JV partnerships centered onÂ an upcoming Free Tele-training. This is one of the best ways to engage our ideal clients and serve them withÂ freeÂ high-level, high-energy content.Â We invite our JV Partners to send one or two promotional emails to their community letting their members register and then join us for a free tele-training call or series.Â Â (We make this easy-breezy by providing our JV partners with marketing materials and support all along the way.)
Then we continue the connection with our new community members by sending special reminder messages for the upcoming calls and invitations for continued learning.Â Â AndÂ for the best results and most powerful connection with our community,Â we pay special attention to activateÂ theÂ 4 C’s of EnergyRICHÂ® Marketing – Connection, Communication, Call-to-Action and Consistency – in all of our online (and offline) messages.

Hereâ€™s a little secret. I go nowhere without a strategy. A big industry conference, a networking event, a baby shower or the grocery story. I have a strategy for connecting. I never go anywhere without one.
I think: What’s my one goal?
- Do I hope to meet ideal clients, collaborators or partners?
- Do I want to meet others in my neighborhood also working from home?
- Do I need a copywriter referral?
- Do I want to practice my elevator pitch?
- Do I need a reliable babysitter?
What can I learn about the event and/or the participants ahead of time?
- Research social media to see who is talking about the event. If they are talking about it, chances are they’re attending.
- Is there a website for the organization that lists the board members and/or planning committee?
- Is there a guest list?
- The more I know, the more I will feel comfortable with targeting who to speak to and what I can discuss as small talk
Â When in doubt- and you fear you will be going it alone- invite a friend to attend the event with you.
And hereâ€™s the best part: Anyone you meet and enjoy – outside your agenda, plan or strategy – is a bonus person!

I love connecting with new friends and old on Facebook. I was a late adapter, but I found that it suits my personality well. I share business insights, â€śJOYtipsâ€ť (ways to make your life easier and more joyful), client successes, and lots of stories about my four-year-old.
I love free calls too. I was once wondering how I could best teach one particular tool that had made a huge difference in allowing me to release my clutter, inside and out. I wanted the world to know about it but the whole world wasnâ€™t enrolled in my programs. And suddenly it hit meâ€”it wasnâ€™t MY information to hoard; it was given to me to share. And I immediately scheduled a free call for my community entitled, â€śThree Questions that Changed My Life.â€ť
My favorite way of connecting, though, is good old face time. I love to hang out, grab coffee, go to the movies, and just be with people who energize and inspire me. Itâ€™s joyful in and of itself, and it always leads to good thingsâ€”new ideas, connections, opportunities. I just launched a â€śCelebration of Awesomeness!â€ť to bring together a few incredible clients, friends and colleagues at a time. Itâ€™s a fabulous way to introduce good people to each other, grow a community I love, laugh a lot, and eat chocolate. Now thatâ€™s joy!
